You think you can make it without God? Well think again! This is one of the biggest lies Christians tell themselves.
If you have decided to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you will Spiritually die if you’re not connected with Him. The word "die" is a fitting word to denote the seriousness of that state.
The year 2018 was the hardest year of my life and I'd brought it down on myself.
God had told me to step down from a particular church ministry that I was involved in and I resisted and explained to Him that they needed me and chose to stay in the ministry.
Then it happened. I remember the day clearly. I was sitting in the yard of the gas station getting my tank filled up when I felt a spiritual darkness descend upon me. I didn't know why it was happening except that I knew it was some kind of evil that had entered my life!
I said “No no no” and tried to resist it but there was nothing I could do and the ensuing year of 2018 thereafter was the worst one of my life.
To name a few, the enemy dried up my finances, I had trouble with my kids, I had trouble on the job and there was a distance between me and God that I couldn't breach.
I wanted to be close to God again but the enemy was in my life wreaking havoc fighting for that not to happen and through my pain I wondered why God had abandoned me!
It was after the fact that I came to understand that my disobedience to His instructions and decision to do what I wanted to do instead had alienated me from God and allowed the enemy into my life.
God was faithful when I sought Him earnestly and helped me rebuild my life and heal from the spiritual beat down I had received. To this day, God has been the best friend I've ever had and has shown His awesomeness to me in amazing ways I never knew was possible and if I can help others have even a taste of how life-changingly perfect it is to be God’s friend, my horrific ordeal would have been worth it.
John 15:10-14 says, "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you."
As you can see in the scripture above, it's super important to obey God's Commandments and stay in that good place of His love. Some people refer to it as the arc of safety. As you can see from the scripture, in this place is fullness of joy because God's joy will be in you. There is no better position to be in than that of being God's friend. You'll never regret it.
